It is official! SMA Healthcare (SMA), the leading behavioral health agency in Flagler, Putnam, St. Johns, and Volusia Counties has merged with The Centers, a behavioral health agency based in Marion County.
“SMA Healthcare has a long-standing history of changing lives in the communities that it serves, and we look forward to bringing that same level of commitment and compassion to Marion County,” said SMA CEO Ivan Cosimi. “Now that this is official, we are ready to introduce ourselves to the citizens in this area and show them how much we care about the work that we do.”
Robin Lanier, who was named Interim CEO of the Centers in October 2020, will now serve as Vice President of Marion County Services for SMA Healthcare.
“Robin did an outstanding job keeping the services in Marion County moving in the right direction, and I look forward to seeing her continue that great work,” said Cosimi.
SMA entered into a strategic consulting agreement with The Centers in August, offering consultant and operational support to the Ocala-based organization. The two organizations then entered a period of due diligence, collaboration, and exploration in December, with the goal of an agreed merger.
