SMA Healthcare Foundation Announces Sheriff Rick Staly as Impact Award Honoree for 2026 Gala of Light

October 29th

The SMA Healthcare Foundation will host its second annual Gala of Light on Saturday, November 7, 2026, bringing the Flagler County community together for an inspiring evening in support of SMA Healthcare’s behavioral health programs and services.

The Foundation is proud to announce Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly as the 2026 Impact Award honoree, recognizing his work to expand access to crisis care, champion mental health and substance use treatment, and strengthen community partnerships that support recovery.Staly’s recognition reflects his understanding of the connection between behavioral health and public safety and his efforts to help turn community needs into accessible services for Flagler County residents.Among those efforts, Staly helped secure the grant that established SMA Healthcare’s Crisis Triage and Treatment Unit (CTTU), connecting Flagler County residents with assessment and support closer to home. His support helped expand local access to care for individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis.Staly also launched the SMART program to provide treatment, peer support and recovery planning for individuals in the county jail. The program reflects his commitment to addressing mental health and substance use needs and supporting opportunities for recovery.Working alongside SMA Healthcare and other behavioral health partners, Staly has helped connect individuals in crisis with appropriate services and follow-up care. These partnerships bring together public safety and behavioral healthcare to support individuals when they need help. His commitment to second chances extends beyond incarceration. By promoting treatment and reentry services, Staly has supported opportunities for individuals to continue recovery and rebuild their lives after leaving jail. That commitment to accessible care, community partnerships and second chances is at the heart of the Gala of Light. In honoring Staly, the Foundation will recognize the importance of leadership that brings people and services together while rallying community support for SMA Healthcare’s work in Flagler County.Proceeds from this year’s Gala will support SMA Healthcare’s work in Flagler County, including the Flagler Integrative Services Unit (ISU) and its crisis and residential services. The evening will also highlight SMA Healthcare’s growing presence in the county and the community partnerships helping make that work possible. For more information about the event or ways to support it, please reach out to Susan Capone Rode, Executive Director, SMA Healthcare Foundation, srode@smahealthcare.org.Individual tickets are on sale, $350.  To purchase, visit:  https://wl.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E159125&id=27
