Daytona Beach, FL– Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare (SMA) is pleased to announce that they hosted a ribbon cutting and tour of their new facility located at 225 Fentress Blvd. in Daytona Beach on Oct. 27th as part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). Ms. Wheelchair Florida 2016 Heather Taylor was the keynote speaker.
“Heather spoke to a full room about what NDEAM means to her and how important the opportunities are that Enrichment offers,” said Carol Collins, Enrichment Program Director. “It was so fulfilling to hear our clients tell their stories to some of the attendees and explain why the program is such an important part of their life,” she added.
National Disability Employment Awareness Month has been observed each October and focuses on the important role disability plays in workforce diversity. This year’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) theme is “#InclusionWorks.” NDEAM celebrates the contributions of workers with disabilities and educates them about the value of a diverse workforce inclusive of their skills and talents. Enrichment’s Supported Employment Program and Contract Services are great examples of the success of inclusion in the workplace.
However, SMA’s Enrichment Program also supports allowing individuals a choice in the work environment, working with them to identify the appropriate setting for their personal and individual needs and goals. One such choice or option for the clients served at Enrichment is the sheltered workshop, where they are able to provide support to manufacturers and other companies with their light manufacturing, assembling, packaging, and promotional product services, as well as manufacture their own line of products.
