What is National Prevention Week?

What is National Prevention Week?

May 15th

Every year, National Prevention Week is held in May to spotlight efforts around mental health and substance use prevention.

One of the most important aspects of NPW is its focus on youth. Young people face increasing pressures, from school stress to social media influence. Prevention efforts help provide them with tools and knowledge to make healthy choices and seek help when needed. The week also spotlights the work of professionals who dedicate themselves to building safer environments through education, outreach, and support.

National Prevention Week encourages communities to collaborate, share resources, and uplift one another. From local events and social media campaigns to educational workshops and storytelling, NPW reminds us that prevention is possible, and everyone has a role to play.

By recognizing and participating in National Prevention Week, we not only raise awareness but also build a culture that prioritizes mental health and wellness. Prevention saves lives and NPW gives us the opportunity to make a difference together.
